About me

Hello there! Thanks for visiting. My name is Melanie Tabroff, and I'm a product designer and outdoor health enthusiast (running is my daily ritual).

I’ve spent the past 2 years working as a UX/UI designer and researcher at various startups. I love learning about new industries and collaborating with a team to solve interesting problems.

How did I get here?

I took an unconventional route to UX. My academic background is in cognitive psychology and biology because I enjoy learning how people think and what drives them to behave the way they do. When I graduated, I was eager to apply my passion for research, psychology, and systems thinking in a professional setting.

When I discovered UX early in my career (after working alongside designers and developers at both a real estate startup and creative agency), something clicked. The more I researched and practiced design in my free time, the more excited I became about understanding how people engage with technology. I decided to take an online bootcamp to learn the foundations of UX/UI, and since then, I’ve been working hard to put my skills into practice. Everyday I’m learning and I love what I do.

My philosophy

When I traveled to Copenhagen I discovered Hygge [‘HOO-gah”], which loosely translates to “coziness.” From what I understand, Hygge is all about designing your life to support happiness, good health, and wellbeing. I’m a big Hygge enthusiast and try to make a daily effort to do the things that make me happy. This means drinking a good cup of coffee, going for a long run, and working on projects that I believe in.

In my free time, I enjoy drawing people.
